Sessions
What happens in a session?
Psychotherapy is a journey of discovery that takes time. Much of the learning is developed through the relationship between therapist and client. There is no expectation that you will be able to verbalise what you are thinking or feeling or have a clear understanding of how you have come to this point.
During a therapy session, younger children may be encouraged to play, whilst older children or adolescents may choose to draw. Play and creativity is a fantastic communicative tool that sheds light on a child's emotional world. Adults may chose to talk about immediate problems or anything they wish. Sharing whatever thoughts enter one's mind provides insight into the unconscious world. It is through such activities that a deeper understanding of emotions and difficulties can develop.
